About the Show

Fierce-ly truthful, fearless, funny, devastating, this full length show offers insight into some of the diverse embodied experiences of our mothers, daughters, sisters and friends.

Partly auto-biographical, partly research-based, character-driven and all captivating, titillating with a dash of burlesque, Titillations is a provocative, feminist, and body-positive exploration of the FEMALE BREAST.

This show gives voice to an important population currently underrepresented in the Canadian theatre mosaic, especially older women, women who breast feed their infants, women who don't, and women who have both survived and succumbed to breast cancer.

Playwright Yvette Dudley-Neuman developed the Titillations script over the last year with SHIFTLab funding and with the mentorship of Dramaturge Rachel Peake; a public reading of the full length show was staged at the Firehall during SHIFT Festival 10: Passion Projects in June 2017.

This show is based on careful and committed field research, about having, hating and wanting boobs, about their iconography, their supposed ubiquity, and their inherent embodiment of identity politics.

The play features 5 actors paid under the CAE/DOT policy; there are 3 roles available for physical, collaborative, responsive, experienced actors aged 20 to 50.

Rehearsals will run through May, negotiated as a cast, in 4 to 8 hour increments, evenings and some weekends. Full day rehearsals in the venue will run for 5 days: Sunday, May 27 - Thursday, May 31. The full length show will run at 8pm on Thursday, May 31, Friday, June 1, and Saturday, June 2, in the round at the Russian Hall with live musicians onstage and minimal entrances/exits for actors.
