Fall-Out Picnic

Written by Mily Mumford

Performed by Mily Mumford and Sean Harris Oliver

Directed by Jessica Nelson

Two young people attempt an everyday activity in an extraordinary setting. Writer/performer Mily Mumford plays Sydney, who encourages her friend London (Sean Harris Oliver) “to live a little” - in the face of everything falling apart around them. Developed as an outdoor site-specific work for Victoria’s Theatre Skam, this “eco-pocalyptic” comedy was inspired by the climate nightmare we may be leaving our grandchildren.

Mily Mumford

Mily Mumford hails from Victoria, and is an accomplished author of plays, such as Pretty Monster, Love is for Superbeasts, Artist is a Dying Language, Fall-Out Picnic and Chautauqua Summer. She is also a director, performer and in addition to theatre making, Mily is a new-to-the-field researcher in forensic neuroscience. As a playwright Ms. Mumford has developed shows with other companies in Victoria and Vancouver such as Theatre Skam, Intrepid Theatre, Puente Theatre, Delinquent Theatre and Little Mountain Lion Productions as well as several with her own production company Nebula, focusing on theatre that challenges audiences intellectually while providing space for diverse voices and promoting social change.
