Swan Song

Written and Performed by Stephanie Izsak

Accompanied by Matt Grinke on piano

Swan Song is a darkly comic and poignant exploration of human culpability in the shape of a musical visit to “the other side.” Izsak is the featured performer in a suite of six songs arranged by Nico Rhodes and featuring Matt Grinke on piano accompaniment. Of inspiration, Izsak says she “has spent many years trying to be bad which has only led to a passionate belief in the good.”

Stephanie Izsak

Stephanie is a Vancouver based, Ottawa born actor, playwright, producer and partyer. Select credits include: The Romeo Initiative (Touchstone Theatre), Lungs (Mitch and Murray Productions- Jesse Richardson Award Nomination), Detroit (Plosiv Productions, Ottawa ON), The Game of Love and Chance (Odyssey Theatre, Ottawa ON), Balm in Gilead, Spring Awakening, The Government Inspector (Studio 58). Stephanie was the recipient of the Sydney J. Risk Foundation Award, holds an Honours BA in Theatre from Bishops University and is a graduate of Studio 58. She reads constantly, will ditch anything to each brunch and feels the weight of her existence is balanced by the amount of first-rate romantic advice she gives friends. She has spent many years trying to be bad which has only led her to believe passionately in the good; Swan Song is a direct reflection of this and Stephanie is humbled and thrilled to be working with SHIFT to bring this offering out into the blissfully chaotic and sweetly crumbling world we call home.
